Technology Criticism
Roles: critic, technology, adopter, disruption, consequence, narrative
Discourse that examines the social, ethical, and structural consequences of technological development. As a target domain, technology criticism borrows heavily from apocalyptic, medical, and ecological metaphors to frame technology as simultaneously transformative and dangerous. The frame foregrounds the tension between techno-optimism and techno-pessimism, the distribution of costs and benefits from technological change, and the difficulty of governing systems whose consequences outpace deliberation.
