Spatial Motion

Roles: mover, origin, destination, trajectory, vehicle, displacement, transfer

Movement of objects or substances from one location to another. As a source domain, spatial motion provides metaphors for emotional displacement, the relocation of qualities from one entity to another, and the idea that psychological properties can travel between persons. The frame encodes the structural insight that what is moved retains its identity even in a new location, and that the act of transfer implies both a source that loses and a recipient that gains.
