Physical Strength
Roles: the strong, the weak, force, resistance, endurance, exertion, collapse, support
The capacity of a body to exert force, bear weight, and resist external pressure. As a source domain, physical strength maps onto moral, emotional, and institutional qualities — strong leadership, weak arguments, the backbone of an organization. The binary structure (strong vs. weak) and the embodied experience of muscular effort make this one of the most pervasive and least noticed metaphorical source domains in everyday language.
