Physical Objects
Roles: object, holder, giver, receiver, transfer, possession, substance, weight
Tangible things that can be held, given, taken, transferred, and possessed. One of the most basic source domains in conceptual metaphor theory — we understand abstract concepts (ideas, existence, time, emotions) as physical objects that have weight, substance, and can change hands. The frame provides the structural backbone for the object case of the Event Structure metaphor system, where states are possessions, changes are transfers, and causes are givers of objects.
