Mental Experience
Roles: mind, psyche, emotion, sanity, breakdown, resilience, stress, consciousness
The inner life of the mind — cognition, emotion, sanity, and psychological well-being. Where intellectual-inquiry focuses on the pursuit of knowledge, mental-experience covers how we talk about the mind itself: its functioning and malfunctioning, its fragility and resilience, its states of health and collapse. As a target domain it draws on machines, brittle objects, containers, and other physical source frames to give structure to subjective experience that would otherwise resist description.
