Manual Labor
Roles: laborer, material, tool, worksite, resistance, repetition, finished-product
Physical work performed on resistant material through sustained effort and repetition. As a source domain, manual labor foregrounds the gap between knowing what to do and having done the work, the necessity of repeated application to overcome material resistance, and the distinction between the worker’s intention and the material’s stubbornness. Structurally productive because it encodes the insight that transformation requires labor proportional to resistance, not just knowledge of the desired outcome.
