Magic
Broader: mythology
Roles: caster, target, spell, enchantment, charm, hex, incantation, potion, counter-spell, wand
The practice of exerting supernatural influence through rituals, words, or objects. Magic operates outside ordinary causation: the caster directs power at a target through spells, potions, or enchantments that bypass physical law. Key structural features include the asymmetry between caster and target, the involuntary nature of the effect on the target, and the possibility of counter-spells that reverse or neutralize the original working. Productive as a source domain because it provides a rich vocabulary for describing hidden causation, irresistible influence, and altered perception.
