Intelligence

Roles: the clever, the foolish, insight, understanding, comprehension, wit, judgment, reasoning

The cognitive capacity for learning, reasoning, and problem-solving. As a target domain, intelligence is structured by multiple source frames: light (brilliant, dim), speed (quick, slow), sight (perceptive, blind), and sharpness (keen, dull). The diversity of source domains reflects the difficulty of describing cognitive ability directly — we can only approach it through physical analogies rooted in bodily experience.
