Experience

Roles: novice, expert, exposure, judgment, maturation, mastery

The accumulated knowledge and judgment that comes from prolonged engagement with a domain. As a target domain, experience borrows from material science (seasoning, tempering, hardening), agriculture (ripening, harvesting), and navigation (knowing the terrain). The domain encodes the distinction between knowledge that can be transmitted verbally and knowledge that can only be acquired through direct encounter.
