Evaluation and Judgment
Roles: evaluator, criterion, candidate, verdict, standard, evidence
The cognitive activity of assessing worth, quality, or fitness — sorting good from bad, ranking alternatives, and reaching verdicts. Evaluation draws heavily on physical metaphors of separation (wheat from chaff, gold from dross), measurement (weighing evidence), and spatial ranking (above/below a bar). As a target domain it absorbs source frames from agriculture, metallurgy, and law.
