Epistemology
Roles: knower, knowledge, justification, belief, evidence, theory, interpretation, truth
The study of what counts as knowledge, how it is justified, and what its limits are. As a target domain, epistemological stances are frequently structured by spatial metaphors (foundations, frameworks, horizons) and visual metaphors (seeing, clarity, illumination). As a frame, it foregrounds the distinction between knowing that something works and understanding why it works — a tension that generates productive metaphors in science, engineering, and philosophy.
