Colonization

Roles: colonizer, colony, indigenous-population, resource-extraction, settlement, territory, supply-chain, governance

Establishing control over new territory by settling it, extracting its resources, and imposing the colonizer’s governance structures. The colonization frame provides roles for expansion (the colonizer), resistance (indigenous populations), extraction (resources flowing from periphery to center), and administration (governance at a distance). It is structurally productive but politically charged: any metaphor that imports colonization imports its history of exploitation, displacement, and unequal power relations.
