Aviation

Roles: pilot, copilot, aircraft, cockpit, instruments, flight-plan, altitude, navigation, autopilot

The domain of powered flight, organized around a strict hierarchy of command and layered systems of redundancy. Aviation is distinctive as a source domain because it combines extreme consequentiality (errors kill people) with extreme procedural formality (checklists, standard phraseology, crew resource management). The pilot-copilot relationship is not merely one of rank but of complementary attention: the pilot flies, the copilot monitors, and either can take control if the other fails. This structure — shared task, asymmetric authority, mutual monitoring — makes aviation unusually productive for mapping onto human-AI collaboration.
